Blood is thicker than water 的译例。

167. Longman Dictionary of English Idioms (p.28) The relationship between people of the same family is stronger than other, relationships”因此,这则谚语 似可以借用汉语中一句俗语“亲不亲一家人”来译更能表达出“属于同一血缘关系的一 家人比别人更亲近一些”的寓意。

170. Pride comes before a fall.

171. Amiss is as good as a mile.

172. Two is company,but three is none。

173. Walls have ear.

174. Enough is as good as a feast.

176. Two can play the game.

177. Newbroom sweeps clean.

178. Speak of the devil,and he appears.

179. The grass is greener on the other side of the hill.

180. Putting the cart before the horse.

182. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

183. In fair weather prepare for the foul.

184. Murder will out.

185. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.

186. One cannot make an omelette without breaking eggs。

188. God helps those who help themselves.

189. Money is the root of all evil.

190. An empty sack cannot stand upright.

191. Do as you would be done by.

Don't do unto others what you don't want others do unto you.“己所 不欲勿施于人”很相似。

193. Money talks.

195. You may take a horse to the water, but you can’t make it drink. 196.
